For updates on AMERICAN MYSTIC — including screenings, the upcoming DVD, and how your community group can host the movie — be sure to head to our Facebook page and “like” the film…
For those of you who don’t already know, AMERICAN MYSTIC has partnered with Kino Lorber/Alive Mind Cinema to bring the movie to community groups and select theaters. They’ll also be releasing the DVD wide in September 2011. If you’d like to bring the film to your town or community group before that date, please contact Mallory Jacobs at mjacobs@kinolorber.com.
Check out the film’s score, newly posted to the Score page of this site. It’s a very basic page, but there you can hear the gorgeous, strange music of composer Nathan Larson (Boys Don’t Cry, Storytelling, Dirty Pretty Things, The Messenger). Listen for a wild mix of instruments, from the vibraphone to the dulcimer, glockenspiel, mellotron, some 70’s analogue synthesizers, a theremin, the saw, a thumb piano, and some aggressive strings from Bjork’s violinist…
We’re currently putting together our plan for screenings through early 2011. If there’s an independent theater you’d like to suggest, let me know. Just head to our Facebook page: Facebook.com/American.Mystic
Here’s the film poster, which made its debut in a few of Tribeca’s venues. Design by Elizabeth Dilk; photograph by Maria Vinogradova.
